CLI helps Tameside residents champion recovery
A grant from the Tameside community learning fund has helped some our service users take those first key steps towards being volunteers with CLI. The “positive futures” course explores how people express and control their own emotions and understand and respond to the emotions of others. This helps our service users to develop resilience and the ability to cope in stressful situations which might arise in more formal environments. They use these skills to help others cope in stressful situations.
We will encourage service users to become a “recovery champion” by offering a short course designed to help them develop the skills needed to engage and support individuals accessing drug and alcohol services. The grant also allowed us to upskill our existing volunteers by providing a qualification in advice and guidance. This will help more people access resources in the community which can be crucial to their reintegration.
